In 1815 Jean-Antoine Desmazières-Drino, then aged 16 years, started the company by taking over a hosiery business called the “Bas Rouge” in Lille.

In 1919, the company simultaneously developed two commercial activities and the following came into being:

> Desmazières-Drino, hosiery specialist (the company still operates today at Marcq en Baroeul).

> Desmazières, managed by Carlos Desmazières-Lefevre, for the footwear trade.

Up until 1972, the company rapidly expanded, marked by the indisputable success of prestigious products such as the famous "pantoufle du docteur Tonnerre", the "Debebe" footwear or the "Perfecta" shoes.

Serge Desmazières brought a new orientation to the company in 1972, by developing mail order sales to organizations (works committees etc.). This was when the first catalogue “Serge DESMAZIERES” appeared.

With the opening of the 1st chauss'expo store in Marcq en Baroeul in 1987,the current management, under the leadership of Guy-Serge Desmazières, the 6th génération of Desmazières in charge, décided to take the direction of "the wider public".

On the strength of the success of this store (designed originally to accommodate the mail order sale stock) and its successors, the company finally turned towards a wider public clientele: the mail order "Zeste" collection was born.

Today, this “company from the Nord of France” has 180 stores throughout France and is planning to double the number of sales points in the next ten years. You can now buy online from them in the UK.
